The Equine Learning Lab at JL Performance Horses is a hands-on educational program designed specifically for homeschool students and alternative learners who want to explore horses through the lens of science, agriculture, and real-world experience.
Using the S.A.F.E.R. Horsemanship Method, students learn how horses live, communicate, and function biologically while gaining practical skills and confidence around these remarkable animals.
This program combines equine science, agriculture, observation, and hands-on interaction, creating a meaningful learning experience that connects classroom concepts with real farm life.
Students will work directly with horses while learning how to observe, evaluate, and care for them in a safe and respectful environment.
During the Equine Learning Lab sessions, students explore topics such as:
• Horse anatomy and basic physiology
• How to take and understand vital signs
• Grooming and daily horse care
• Horse behavior and communication
• Farm ecology and the horse’s role in agriculture
Students will participate in guided hands-on activities, demonstrations, and interactive learning while developing responsibility, observation skills, and confidence working around horses.
