We Are Lifelong Horsepeople

For more than 50 years, JL Performance Horses has been in the same pristine location in the beautiful town of Union Vale, NY. As a family owned, horse farm, we have bred, produced, trained, cared for & shown horses successfully from the grass roots to the National level. Unlike commercial riding academies, our horse farm invites folks to be part of a community of people who love horses & follow their passion for all things equine. We offer comprehensive equine education for show, recreation & sale.

Horse Boarding & Training

We have been responsible for the day to day care, conditioning, exercising and training of recreational horses/ponies to top show horses and World Champions. We understand what it takes to properly care for our (and yours) 4 legged, trusty steed.

We feed a high forage diet with the finest locally sourced hay and quality equine grain which is low in starch & sugar. Horse/ponies have free access to clean water 24/7 with no freeze, heated waters during the cold months. Changing of blankets/fly sheets/masks are dictated by the season & temperatures, and at no additional cost to the owner.

We strictly limit the number of equine residents to ensure the highest quality of care and training opportunities.

Sales & Leases

We continue to offer quality horses & ponies for sale or lease. Many of our programs are structured to include the lease of a suitable horse or pony, such as our popular PONYSITTERS club designed specifically for children who love horses.

2019 APHA Western National Championships

Bright lights and big moments helped make special memories for us. The APHA Western National Championship drew 1,040 entries (plus 400 NSBA entries) with 240 horses in 13 divisions. When the dust settled, talented competitors, like Jennifer Barbee (the 'J' in JL Performance Horses) rose to the top of the standings to claim a Top 5 win in Masters Trail, Top 10 in Masters Horsemanship and Top 5 in Masters Showmanship with her handsome geldings, 'Gotta Be A Hotrod' (aka Eddie).
