In the bustling world of equestrian sports, where passion meets skill and determination, there shines a young star named Lily Van Vlack. At a mere seven years of age, she has already carved her place as a formidable force in the realm of pony riding. Affectionately known as the Pony Master, Lily has become a cherished member of the PONYSITTERS team at JL Performance Horses, where her journey towards excellence began two years ago.
Lily's love affair with ponies ignited when she first mounted Cody at the age of five. From that moment, she embarked on a journey marked by dedication and boundless enthusiasm. Together, Lily and Cody made their debut at the 2022 Dutchess County Fair, clinching their first blue ribbon in Leadline Equitation. Their partnership blossomed further as they secured 3rd place in the Walk/Trot Leadline Equitation category, setting the stage for a series of triumphs to come.
But Lily's ambitions didn't stop there. Teaming up with the AQHA Champion gelding, Blazing Up the Charts, she conquered the legendary Trail Master Competition, showcasing her remarkable horsemanship skills and unwavering composure amidst challenging outdoor obstacles. This victory propelled Lily into a realm where her talents shone even brighter.
As a testament to her versatility, Lily immersed herself in both English and Western riding styles, exploring the intricacies of Natural Horsemanship along the way. She rode a multitude of horses and ponies, each contributing to her growth as a rider. Among her favorites was the AQHA Champion gelding, Zips Chip, whose guidance in Western disciplines left an indelible mark on Lily's journey.
The 2023 show season saw Lily partnered with the USEF Champion medium pony, Nick of Time, with whom she shared a harmonious bond that translated into numerous victories in the Pre-Short Stirrup division. Despite facing setbacks when Nick suffered an injury, Lily's resilience shone as she dusted off her aged Shetland partner and continued to dominate the competition ring, earning prestigious Year-end high point Championships.
Yet, amidst triumphs, Lily's heart was touched by sorrow when she took on the challenge of rehabilitating a rescued pony named S'mores. Despite her best efforts, S'mores succumbed to her past trauma, leaving a void in Lily's heart. However, her unwavering resolve to provide comfort and love to S'mores in her final moments stands as a testament to her compassion and strength of character.
Fortune smiled upon Lily once again with the arrival of Curyll Pretty in Pink, a green Welsh Pony whose partnership with Lily blossomed from the moment they met. Guided by top professionals including APHA Professional Horsewoman Leah Struzzieri, esteemed horse show judge Michael Dunn, and Ms. Cate from PonyUp4Kids Foundation Inc, Lily and Pip embarked on a journey of mutual trust and respect.
As the 2024 show season unfolded, Lily Van Vlack, the Pony Master, stood poised to conquer new heights with her beloved Pip winning Champion & Reserve Championships at the shows. With determination and grit, she continues to uphold the tradition of excellence in her horsemanship, inspiring all who witness her remarkable journey in the world of equestrian sports.
In addition to her Hunt Seat riding, this little Pony Master is added Western riding and Roping to her skills with a view of racing out of the box in Breakaway Roping at the Rodeos.
